Construction of InVesta renewable gas Expertise Center in Alkmaar has started
Opening of the new test laboratory is planned for July 2022. The facility and its future activities reinforce the energy and biomass gasification cluster and energy competence network in the region.
Groundbreaking took place for the construction of the new test centre of InVesta, which is the expertise centre for gasification technology in Alkmaar. The contractor, Tervoort from Egmond aan den Hoef, has started with the first construction activities. The completion of the new building at Diamantweg 38 in Alkmaar is planned for July 2022.
The plans for construction at the Energy Innovation Park at Boekelermeer Industrial Park have been prepared by InVesta with the contractor Tervoort and the architects of BRTArchitecten since November 2019.
After the environmental permit was issued in October 2020, the contractor could swiftly start with the construction of the new building. The site preparation and piling have been completed already. Start of construction was celebrated at 20 December 2021 with a modest festive gathering in the presence of city councillor Mrs. Elly Konijn. The concrete floor will be poured in early January.
In the new test centre of InVesta (Institute for Valorisation and Expertise in Thermochemistry Alkmaar), researchers and entrepreneurs are provided with office and meeting space, as well as a laboratory and technical facilities. The test centre will also offer a campus-like function. Students from educational institutions and universities will be able to join with research activities, do their own research and build test-installations at the facility.
The new building is financed by the Province of North Holland and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Change. In addition, the InVesta initiative receives a subsidy from the European POCITYF project, which is applied to provide the building an energy-positive status. The construction site is provided by energy company TAQA and Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN).
