ECN develops knowledge and technology with and for the market to facilitate the transition to sustainable energy management. ECN is developing MILENA-OLGA technology in partnership with a consortium. ECN will further develop innovations related to this technology, such as the production of BTX and hydrogen in partnership with many other parties. ECN also has specific expertise in the field of pre-treatment of biomass, such as Pyrolyse and Torwash Technology.

‌ECN has joined forces with TNO, thus creating a powerful knowledge institute. The organization is also working on plans to develop a small MILENA pilot installation (for ECN) and to bring TNO’s pilot installation for supercritical water gasification to Alkmaar to create unique opportunities for testing innovations.
